Work Weeks

On Trees For Life work weeks, a couple of volunteers cook for the whole group each evening. That can be pretty scary if cooking for twelve people isn't something you've done before.

Happily it isn't as bad as it sounds. There always turns out to be some good cooks in every group, ready with friendly advice.

Even novice cooks (like me) produce good meals with a little help from our friends. It probably helps that everyone is very hungry after a day working on a hillside.

All the food is provided by Trees For Life and is entirely vegetarian. That can be an extra challenge if you don't usually cook vegetarian meals.

Many people find it helpful to have a few recipes written down with the quantities for 12 people. I've gathered a few of the favourites from several different people. You can download them from the link on the right.

If you have favourite work week recipes, tell us about them in the Cooking Forum.
